Day 3 with Jessie! Cooking and Making Connections

Learning Kitchen with Jessie Bear!!!

Learning Kitchen is one of our favourite days in 1RG – We often have parents and friends cook with us and we learn to make healthy snacks and tasty treats as well as experiments, play dough and so much more. Jessie was lucky and was able to join us today. We think she really liked what we cooked!!!

We have been tweeting with the next class who will host Jessie and were delighted to receive questions – we really enjoyed answering them and hopefully we were helpful.

Dear Pre-K and Ms Kennedy,

Thank you for your questions:

We enjoyed receiving your email and thinking about the questions you asked us. Some were a little challenging and others we found easy to answer because luckily we had a few experts in the class. We hope our answers are helpful 🙂

Q1: Is Jessie use to the hot weather in Bangkok now she has been with you for three days?

A1: Yes because we took her outside to play and she was not sweaty. When she is outside she likes to come inside to AC to cool down. We all do.

Q2: We have started an inquiry into weather and seasons. It is Autumn here in Australia and in Armidale it was cold, windy and wet. The temperature ranged from 4 – 15 degrees. Brrrr! We have noticed lots of leaves on our trees changing colour. Today we took a look at the different coloured leaves and saw lots of red, orange, brown and yellow/amber leaves on and around our deciduous trees. What is the weather like in Bangkok today?

A2: It is hot! Very hot. Our leaves aren’t changing colour now –  it is starting to rain more in Bangkok but it is super sunny today and soooo hot and everyone sweats. Sometimes in the morning it gets cold in Bangkok around Christmas time but not at the moment.

Q3: Do you have four seasons like us (Summer, Autumn (fall), Winter and Spring)?

A3: We don’t have 4 seasons – We have a wet season and a hot season and a dry season. The dry season is like Autumn. Some of the leaves change colour.

Q4: We have been wondering if you could share one or more of your writers Workshop ‘wow’ stories with us?

A4: Yes – we love sharing our writing. We will select come and send you a video so you can see some of our writing.

Q5: Can Jessie can talk?

A5: No – We have to use people to make Jessie talk. You would have to put electricity inside her to make her talk. Like a robot. And we would need batteries.

We have a few questions for you too! We hope you can help!

  1. What are the names of the children in the class and how many are there in the class?
  2. What is the name of your school and where is it in Australia?
  3. We are learning about how things change in nature and are curious about the Kangaroo. How does the baby kangaroo get into the pouch?
  4. What animals are from Australia? – We know about: kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, emus, koalas, cockatoos, possums, bats and kookaburras. Any more?
  5. Do you have hornbills?
